For those of use who are explorers, it’s nearly impossible to describe the wonder of a new place. Adventure is a Siren that sings a song that cannot be resisted. This is Bokor Mountain. Home to a thousand dragon flies, waterfalls, forgotten trails, and a ghost town build by the French in the 1920′s – once a resort community for the wealthy to escape the capital and humid lowlands.

“If walls could speak…” These are the tiles that line the floors of the great hotel on Bokor Mountain. I wonder what life they saw at opening day in the 1920 when the French built this posh resort community on the mountain.

A small lone Buddhist temple sits on the top of Mount Bokor overlooking the ocean. If one were interested in being a monk, buddhist or otherwise, this would be a beautiful place to meditate. However life here is hard, as evidenced by the crumbling shack behind me as I took this shot, where the monks live and tend a small garden and few chickens.

Awesome overlook. This is the courtyard of the hotel overlooking the ocean. A crumbling wall outlines the near-cliff edge. What I wouldn’t have done for a paragliding wing just then…

This would have been the post office, which sat quietly at the entrance to the resort community.

Record for number of Cambodians on one motor scooter. How many are there (hint, look for heads)?
